This guide is for Australian shoppers looking at The Beauty Chef (thebeautychef.com). It covers shipping, returns on opened products, the store's money-back guarantee and subscriptions. It is not a review of the products, and we have not tested any product. We make no claims about what any product does. Policies change, so check the current pages before you pay.

Quick answer

  • Who runs it: The Beauty Chef Pty Limited, an Australian company, with a Sydney head office listed by appointment only.
  • Returns: change-of-mind returns are limited to unused, sealed products. A separate 30-day guarantee is described for first-time purchases.
  • Shipping: free standard shipping at $79 minimum spend in Australia. Pages disagree on delivery times.
  • Subscriptions: can be cancelled in your account, but the cutoff is 3 days before renewal.
  • Verdict: a genuine, long-running Australian business. The main risk is confusing overlapping return rules, so read them before ordering.

Who runs The Beauty Chef

The terms say the website is owned and operated by The Beauty Chef Pty Limited, and they list an ABN. We did not check it on the Australian Business Register. The contact page lists a Double Bay, NSW head office by appointment only, and a Sydney phone number.

The about page says the brand was founded in 2009 and is Australian owned and made. We have not verified that. The domain lookup (RDAP) shows thebeautychef.com was registered on 5 October 2007.

Ingredients and labels (what the store lists)

We only report what the store's FAQ says, not what products do.

  • The FAQ says the products do not contain nuts, but they are made at a third-party plant that handles other products and traces are possible.
  • It says most products are vegan and vegetarian. It names exceptions that contain fish or honey.
  • It says powders last 2 years unsealed and 60 to 90 days once opened, and some products need refrigeration after opening. Check each label.
  • It advises talking to a healthcare practitioner before use if you take medication or have an intolerance.

Read the label on each product page before you buy. We make no judgement on suitability.

Opened-product return rules

This is where the pages overlap and differ.

  • Refund policy and terms: for change of mind, the product must be unused, sealed and resalable. You email first, post the item at your cost and it must arrive within 30 days of the order, with the invoice. Original shipping is not refunded.
  • FAQ: says opened products cannot be returned because they are ingestible, unless they fail a consumer guarantee.
  • 30-day Glow guarantee page: covers a first purchase of each eligible product, for customers in Australia on thebeautychef.com. You must claim within 30 days of delivery using an online form and get a Returns Authorisation number. The product must be used as the label directs. Shipping fees are not refunded. Bundle refunds are adjusted. Exclusions are noted on product pages.

Those three pages conflict. The refund policy counts 30 days from order and says sealed only, while the guarantee counts from delivery and appears to allow opened use. We cannot tell which applies to your order. Ask support to confirm in writing before you open anything.

Compared with Australian Consumer Law

The store's own text says its goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded. On consumerlaw.gov.au (read 26 Oct 2026), goods should work properly, do what they are meant to do and match the description, and a faulty or not-as-described product may give a right to a refund, repair or replacement. The same site says a business cannot refuse a refund just because of store policy.

So the "sealed only" rule is a change-of-mind rule and should not stop a claim for a faulty or mislabelled product. The ACCC pages were denied, so we cannot say from a source whether the law requires change-of-mind refunds.

Shipping and delivery

The shipping page says Australian orders go by Australia Post. Orders in by 7am ship the same day. Standard is $6.95, express is $15 (1 to 2 business days), and standard is free from $79. It ships to PO Boxes and parcel lockers. New Zealand is $15 NZD standard; it ships only within Australia and New Zealand.

Delivery times differ across pages. The shipping page says 3 to 10 business days. The site banner and terms say 3 to 5 business days. The banner also advertises "free delivery" with an asterisk, while the cart notes a $79 threshold.

Out-of-stock items can hold your whole order until everything is ready, unless you ask otherwise.

Returns and refunds

Faulty, damaged or incorrect goods: email promptly with your order number. The refund policy says the buyer meets return costs but the store will refund return postage on approval. The terms say both things, so ask first. Refunds go back to the original payment method.

Subscriptions

The FAQ describes recurring orders every 30, 60 or 90 days with free shipping. You manage them in your account. You can skip, edit or cancel, but you cannot pause. Changes must be made at least 3 days before renewal. Subscriptions accept cards and PayPal only, not Afterpay, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Shop Pay. The FAQ gives a 10% subscription saving, while the footer shows a larger figure, so check the checkout total.

What shoppers say

  • Trustpilot (read 26 Oct 2026): one review on an unclaimed profile, one star, dated 2 April 2025. The reviewer said an order from January had not arrived and that they could not reach the company for a month. One review is not a pattern.
  • ProductReview.com.au and Reddit: we found no readable pages.

Verdict

The Beauty Chef looks like a real Australian business with a named company, address, phone and long-registered domain. Independent service reviews are too thin to judge. The risk is the overlapping return rules and the delivery time pages. If you want to try a product, get the guarantee terms confirmed first.

Checklist before you order

  1. Decide whether you may want to return it: do not open it until you know which rule applies.
  2. Screenshot the refund policy and guarantee page.
  3. Read each label for ingredients, allergens and storage.
  4. Check the $79 free-shipping threshold in your cart.
  5. For subscriptions, note the renewal date and cancel at least 3 days before.
  6. Pay by card or PayPal for dispute rights.
  7. Keep the invoice, which you need for any return.
  8. Email info@thebeautychef.com with your order number if anything arrives damaged.

What we could not confirm

  • ProductReview.com.au, Reddit and Google reviews for the store.
  • Whether the Glow guarantee or the sealed-only rule applies to an opened product.
  • Who pays for return postage on faulty goods (the terms say both).
  • The ABN on the Australian Business Register.
  • The correct delivery time (3 to 5 or 3 to 10 business days).
  • Whether the subscription saving is 10% or more.
  • Any ACCC page text (access denied).
