How We Research Our Guides

Our guides are written to answer one question: what should you check before you buy? They explain the sizes, materials, specs, policies and fine print that make the difference, so you can compare any store, big or small, with confidence.

What our guides are (and aren't)

How we research

  1. Start from the buyer's questions. What do people get wrong in this category? Sizing, materials, compatibility, delivery and returns come up again and again.
  2. Check standards and definitions. Where there's an official standard or common rating system (for example mattress sizes, gold purity marks, water-resistance ratings, toy safety marks or sleeping-bag temperature ratings), we explain it in plain English and check it against the standard itself.
  3. Cover the US and the UK. Sizes, terms and rules often differ. We give both where it matters.
  4. Avoid claims we can't stand behind. No medical or health claims, no invented statistics, and no "best", "#1" or "guaranteed" language.
  5. Review and update. Guides show the date they were last updated. We review them regularly and correct anything that has changed.
