This guide is for shoppers searching for a Serta review who want to know how buying a mattress on serta.com works: the trial, the return steps, the warranty and the catches. It is not a review of the mattresses. We have not tested any product or store mentioned here. Serta mattresses are also sold by other retailers, and this guide covers buying through the Serta site only. Policies change, so read the current terms before you pay.

Quick answer
- Trial: a 100-night sleep trial that starts on the delivery date, on products bought on Serta's own site (serta.com trial page, read 26 October 2026).
- Return limit: one return or exchange per household per 12 months. This is easy to miss.
- Shipping: standard shipping is free to the lower 48 states. Most deliveries take 2 to 4 weeks, and setup and old-mattress removal cost extra.
- Warranty: a 10-year limited warranty is the example the page gives. Normal softening is not covered, and the exact terms are in the warranty card for your purchase date.
- Verdict: buying direct has clear written terms and a long trial. The main complaints from shoppers are about delivery, not the trial itself. If you bought elsewhere, the retailer's rules apply, not these.

Who runs Serta
The terms of use say the website is made available by Serta, Inc. The About page describes more than 90 years in the sleep business and sales in over 150 countries, and says Serta also supplies beds to hotels. Those are company claims. The site was registered in 1997, so this is a long-established web presence.
The terms of use page carries an effective date of May 2013 and says Serta can change the terms at any time. Serta also sells through other stores, and the shipping and returns page says plainly that a purchase from another retailer must be handled by that retailer.
Trial period, firmness and the return process
Trial. The trial page says the 100-night trial starts on the delivery date and allows a full refund on products that are not a good fit. It applies to products on Serta.com. The page address says "120-day" but the text on both the trial and shipping pages says 100 nights. Use 100 nights as the working number and confirm it at checkout. Third-party sites we found elsewhere cite other numbers, which is another reason to check the live page.
Break-in. Serta encourages about a month of use before starting a return, because foam softens as it breaks in. It also says you do not have to wait a month.
How to start. You fill in an online return form. Serta says to allow up to 48 hours for an email with next steps. For items delivered by RXO, which covers most mattresses and bases, Serta says RXO contacts you within 3 business days to schedule pickup. For items delivered by FedEx, Serta says it will give guidance, including possible donation of gently used goods.
The catch. The return policy allows one return or exchange per household per 12 months. If you pick the wrong firmness twice, the second purchase would not be covered by that rule. Choose carefully the first time.
Firmness. Lines on the site include Classic, Perfect Sleeper, iComfort and iSeries NXG, among others, with starting prices on the homepage ranging from $219 for Five Star to $1,999 for Masterpiece at the time we read it. Firmness is shown by model name, for example a medium foam, an ultra plush foam and a firm hybrid among the iSeries NXG listings. Reviewers on Trustpilot mention some models feeling too soft. Read each product page for the specific feel, and consider a store visit, which the homepage says the brand supports through a store locator.
Exchanges. For an exchange inside the trial, the page says to email support@serta.com.
Warranty
The warranty page says all Serta products are covered against manufacturing defects in workmanship and material, as outlined in the brochure that comes with the mattress. For Serta.com items it gives a 10-year limited warranty as an example. Covered issues it lists include body impressions deeper than three quarters of an inch on smooth-top models, deeper than one and a half inches on quilted models, sagging, split or cracked foam, and cover defects such as unraveled stitching.
Before a claim, Serta asks you to check that your foundation supports the mattress and to rotate the mattress at least every six months. Normal softening from regular use is not covered. Claims go through an online form.
Several warranty brochures are posted by purchase date, including one the page says was updated in May 2026. We could not read the PDF text, so we cannot tell you its exact terms. Open the one that matches your purchase date. If you bought somewhere else, the page says your retailer likely handles the warranty, and Serta only helps if the retailer has closed or you moved, with verification.
Shipping and delivery
Standard shipping is free on Serta.com, delivered to your front door ("threshold"). White glove delivery costs extra and includes setup and removal of the old mattress. Both options need you to schedule delivery and an adult to be present. Most deliveries occur within 2 to 4 weeks of the order. The homepage also mentions a Quick Ship option for faster delivery on some items. Orders ship only to the lower 48 states.
Returns and refunds
Refunds go back to the original payment form once the pickup or shipment is confirmed, and your bank may need 5 to 10 business days. The homepage says shipping and returns are free on orders from the site, and the returns page names no return fee. Some third-party review sites we saw in search results say a fee applied in the past. We could not verify that, so ask support to confirm in writing whether any fee or deduction applies to your order. See refunds and chargebacks if a refund stalls.
If you bought from another store, the Serta page says the return must go through that store. If that store has closed, it says the mattress is likely a final sale.
What shoppers say
- Trustpilot (read 26 Oct 2026): 3.7 of 5 from 294 reviews; 53% five-star and 29% one-star. Newest review dated 3 October 2026.
- Praise: comfort, courteous delivery crews, easy ordering, and some good customer service outcomes.
- Complaints: delivery delays and rescheduling are the most common issue, with reviewers blaming the third-party delivery provider and poor communication. Others mention unhelpful phone support, wrong items or addresses, and some models feeling too soft.
- Serta's replies: the company often points unhappy reviewers back to their retailer, which suggests many reviews come from non-Serta.com purchases.
- BBB and Reddit: we could not read either.

Verdict
Serta's own site offers a clear 100-night trial, free standard shipping and a published warranty, from a long-running brand. The weak points are the one-return-per-year limit, delivery timing that depends on a third-party carrier, and the need to check the exact warranty card. A mattress is a large purchase, so read the live trial and return pages at checkout and save a copy.
Checklist before you order
- Confirm you are buying on serta.com, not another retailer, since the terms differ.
- Read the live trial page and note the delivery date, since the 100 nights start then.
- Remember the limit of one return or exchange per household per 12 months.
- Choose firmness from the product page, not the brand line alone.
- Decide between free front-door delivery and paid setup and removal.
- Ask support in writing whether any return fee applies.
- Open the warranty card that matches your purchase date and check your foundation supports it.
- Pay with a method that protects you, and keep your order email.
What we could not confirm
- Accepted payment methods at checkout beyond Affirm financing.
- The text of the 2026 warranty card PDF.
- Whether any return fee applies (the pages we read name none).
- BBB and Reddit feedback.
- Whether a minimum sleep period applies before a return, which third-party sites mention but Serta's pages encourage rather than require.
