Quick answer

  • It looks like a real, established business. The domain was registered in 2007, the store lists a Texas address and phone number, and it has a BBB listing.
  • Personalized items cannot be returned. The store says personalization is final sale for every option, so check spelling and placement before you pay.
  • Non-personalized returns are possible for 30 days after delivery, but the return label cost is taken out of your refund, and there are no direct exchanges.
  • Reviews are mixed to poor on Trustpilot (2.4 of 5 from only 22 reviews). Complaints focus on support, cancellations and refunds.
  • Verdict: Legit, with strict rules. Fine if you read the policies first and are sure about what you order, especially anything personalized.

Who runs Leatherology

The About page describes a company headquartered in Dallas, Texas, run by a brother and sister who are listed as co-founders. It says its leather products are designed in the USA and made in its own facilities and with partner factories in Asia, Europe and the United States. The FAQ says the store uses full-grain leather and that its tanneries are certified by the Leather Working Group. We could not verify those sourcing claims; they are the store's statements.

Personalization: what to check

Leatherology offers several ways to personalize: debossing in serif, sans or block fonts, script, hand paint, trapunto, an AI designer and custom artwork. Not every option is available on every product.

Points from the store's own pages:

  • Letters are applied left to right, exactly as typed, all the same size. The store says it does not offer the classic monogram layout with a larger center initial.
  • You confirm the details. The terms say you are responsible for spelling, capitalization, font, color and placement.
  • Mistakes caused by the store. The terms ask you to contact support within 14 days of delivery with photos and your order number. The FAQ says it will review such cases.
  • Processing time. Debossing and script on in-stock items usually have no extra processing time outside peak periods. Hand paint, trapunto, AI designer and custom artwork are made to order and take longer. The checkout page shows the estimate.

Shipping and delivery

The shipping policy (last updated 28 August 2026) says the store ships to all 50 states and US territories, plus APO, FPO and DPO military addresses. It does not ship to PO boxes. International destinations listed are Australia, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, with duties and taxes calculated at checkout.

Free economy shipping applies to orders of $125 or more in the 48 contiguous states, counted after discounts and excluding taxes and shipping. Other methods are priced at checkout.

Other points:

  • Orders are processed within about an hour for the cancellation window, and they cannot be edited once placed. The FAQ says to cancel and reorder if eligible.
  • Backorders can extend lead times to 90 days or longer, according to the terms. You can wait or cancel for a refund.

Returns and refunds

The Returns page says non-personalized items that are new, unused and in all original packaging (box, dust bag, hang tags) can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Personalized items, final sale items and gift cards cannot. Items with signs of use, scratches or missing tags are refused, and sets must come back complete.

You start a return from an order email or your account. The store says it emails approval within 24 hours. With the store label (contiguous 48 states) the fee is $7.50 for one item and $10 for two or more, deducted from the refund. You can use your own trackable label at your own cost. Outside the contiguous states, you pay return shipping.

Refunds take up to 7 to 10 business days after the return arrives. Original shipping fees are not refunded. For international orders, duties, taxes and brokerage fees are not refunded either. Returns shipped more than 14 days after authorization may be refused or refunded as store credit.

Gift recipients can return for store credit by contacting support. Direct exchanges are not offered.

Warranty: the FAQ describes a one-year limited warranty on defects in materials or workmanship, with proof of purchase from Leatherology. It excludes wear and tear, accidental damage and misuse. The store decides whether to repair or replace.

What shoppers say

  • Trustpilot (read 26 October 2026): 2.4 of 5 from 22 reviews, with about 77% at one star. Trustpilot notes the company has not been inviting reviews or replying to negative ones. Reviewers' recurring complaints: slow or canned customer service, refused cancellations or personalization changes, refund disputes, the return fee, and some quality complaints such as a zipper or stitching. Praise mentions colors, design, on-time delivery and personalization quality, and one reviewer reports using a bag for years. These are customer opinions; the sample is small.
  • BBB (read 26 October 2026): listed as accredited with an A+ rating. We did not see complaint counts or customer review totals.
  • Reddit and other sites: we did not find usable threads.

Verdict

Leatherology appears to be a real, long-running business with clear written rules. Those rules are strict: no returns on personalized items, no exchanges, a fee deducted from refunds, and a short list of accepted conditions. The Trustpilot score is low, though based on few reviews, and the themes match the policy limits. For a non-personalized item you are sure about, the risk looks manageable. For a personalized gift, treat the purchase as final.

Checklist before you order

  1. Decide if you need personalization; if so, accept that it cannot be returned.
  2. Type the initials or name exactly as you want them; check the previewer and character limits.
  3. Remember there is no traditional monogram layout.
  4. Check the checkout delivery estimate and any made-to-order lead time against your deadline.
  5. Compare your cart to the $125 free-shipping threshold and the $7.50 or $10 return label fee.
  6. Keep the box, dust bag and tags in case you return within 30 days.
  7. Pay with a credit card or PayPal, and save order emails and photos.
  8. Read the current Returns and Shipping pages at checkout.

What we could not confirm

  • Trustpilot and BBB were read through a summarizing tool; we did not see individual review pages.
  • BBB complaint numbers and customer ratings.
  • Reddit or independent discussion.
  • Real delivery times; the store gives estimates at checkout only.
  • The sourcing, tannery and manufacturing claims.
  • Whether the Amazon storefront follows the same rules (the store says Amazon returns go through Amazon).
