Who runs Karen Kane
The store's "Our story" page says Karen and her husband Lonnie started the company three months after they married, working from their home garage. The page does not show a founding year. Its statements about worker pay and charity support are the brand's own, and we have not checked them.
The site sells clothing in regular, petite and plus sizes, plus shoes, accessories, jewelry and home items.
Sizing and fit
The size guide lists measurements in inches. For regular sizes (XS to XL, numeric 2 to 16), bust runs from 34 to 44 inches, waist from 26.5 to 36.5 and hip from 36.5 to 46.5. The guide says hip is measured 8 inches below the waist. Petite and plus (0X to 3X, 14W to 22W) charts are also given.
The petite table lists the same waist (33.5) for its two largest sizes, which may be a typing error. If you are between sizes, ask customer service before ordering. Shoe sizes are given in US and European sizes.
Trustpilot reviewers call the sizing inconsistent. That is customer opinion, not something we tested. Sizing is the biggest risk with final sale items, which cannot be returned. Measure yourself against the chart and read the fit notes on the product page.
Shipping and delivery
Orders ship Monday to Friday and can take up to 72 hours to process, the store says. The FAQ adds that orders placed before 11:00 am Pacific generally ship the same day. Shipping is free on orders of $100 or more, excluding duties and taxes. The store offers ground, expedited and express shipping in the US. It does not ship to APO/FPO addresses, and the Shipping page also excludes P.O. boxes (the FAQ mentions only APO/FPO).
International orders go by Global Express and are sent duties unpaid, so the buyer pays duties, taxes and brokerage fees. We did not find transit times or per-method prices. Reviewers report some late deliveries, including paid overnight orders.
Returns and refunds
Clothing and accessories can be returned within 30 days of receipt. Items must be unworn, unwashed, unaltered and tagged. Returns must go through the store's returns center. A package sent back without using it cannot be processed, according to the store.
- Refund method: refund to the original payment method.
- Fees: shipping charges are not refunded. A $10 fee applies if you use the prepaid label. The fee is waived for exchanges, and the Shipping page says it is also waived if you choose store credit.
- Timing: the warehouse needs 10 to 14 days to receive, inspect and process a return. A refund then takes 3 to 5 business days.
- Rejected returns: the FAQ says the customer arranges and pays for sending a rejected item back. The Shipping page says rejected returns go to your original address.
- International returns: duties and taxes charged on a returned item can be deducted from your refund.
Where the store's pages disagree. The Shipping and Returns page offers store credit as an option. The FAQ says no store credit will be issued. The Shipping page says a card is billed when the order is placed, while the FAQ says it is billed when the order ships. The two pages also describe Alaska and Hawaii shipping methods differently. Ask customer service in writing which rule applies and keep the reply.

On Trustpilot, Karen Kane has a 2.0 out of 5 rating from 28 reviews, with 78% one-star. Six were posted in the last 12 months and the newest is dated 30 September 2026 (read 26 October 2026). Trustpilot notes the profile is unclaimed and that the company has not invited reviews, so this may not represent most buyers.
Common complaints are rude or slow customer service, final sale items that could not be exchanged, return shipping costs, returns marked as "damaged in shipping," and slow or missing refunds. Others describe late deliveries, sizing, pilling, thin fabric and dry-clean-only items. A few reviewers praise the style and comfort of certain sweaters, and one praises a manager for a fast replacement. We saw no company replies in the content we read. We found no Reddit threads.

Karen Kane is a real, long-established clothing brand with published rules. The risk is not fraud. It is strict terms (a 30-day window, a $10 label fee, non-refundable shipping, no returns on final sale) and poor reviews about service. It suits shoppers who know their size and check the final sale tag. It is a weaker fit if you often return items or want to try several sizes.
