This page reads the store's own policy pages so you know what to check before you order a suit or dress trousers from Rowe & Taylor. It is not a review of the clothes. We have not tested the store or its products, and the policies can change, so confirm the terms at checkout.

Quick answer

  • No exchanges online: the return policy says exchanges are not processed for online orders. You return the item for a refund or store credit and place a new order.
  • Return window: 30 days from delivery for regular-priced items and 14 days for sale or promotional items; after that, items are final sale.
  • Hemmed or altered items cannot be returned. Check your inseam before you add hemming.
  • Fees: the first purchase has free returns on qualifying items; later returns can carry per-order fees, and some missing items add a $5 restocking fee.
  • Shipping: it is free from $100 and a flat $10 below that, and processing takes several business days before the carrier transit time.

1. Sizing and fit first

Because there are no online exchanges, getting the size right matters more here than at a store that swaps sizes for free. Measure your chest, waist, shoulders, sleeve and inseam and compare with the size guide. Our guide to buying a suit online explains how to measure and what a tailor can and cannot change.

2. Returns

From the store's return policy (no effective date shown; the same window applies in the US and Canada):

  • Regular-priced items can be returned within 30 days of delivery; sale or promo items within 14 days. After that, items are final sale.
  • A return label is valid for 14 days after it is created; if you do not use it, the order becomes final sale.
  • Final sale items cannot be returned. Garments that are altered, hemmed, washed or worn are not eligible, and alterations are made at your risk.
  • Refunds go to the original payment method or as store credit. Shipping charges are not refundable. Store credit does not expire.
  • Return fees are deducted from the refund. For the first purchase of suits, sport coats, shoes, dress trousers and shirts, returns are free. Afterward, the US policy lists $14.95 per return order for suits and $7.95 for shirts, trousers, accessories, shoes and small items (the Canadian policy lists $5.95 for the smaller items).
  • A $5 restocking fee applies if tags or stitches are missing, or if a hanger or garment bag shipped with the item is not returned.
  • The policy excludes Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It does not state a refund processing time or say explicitly who pays return shipping, so confirm both before you buy.

3. Hemming

The alterations page offers hemming for dress trousers: $10 USD for a plain hem and $12 USD for a cuffed hem per trouser (Canadian prices differ), with 5 to 7 business days before the order ships. The page says hemmed trousers are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged, and suggests checking your inseam and trying the trousers on before adding hemming on a first order.

4. Shipping

  • Ships to Canada and the 48 contiguous US states, from the store's Mississauga warehouse.
  • Free shipping on orders of $100 or more after discounts; a flat $10 ground rate below that.
  • Processing: 7 to 9 business days for standard US orders (8 to 10 with alterations), plus 3 to 8 business days of ground transit by UPS. The Canadian processing time is shorter.
  • Once a package leaves the warehouse, the delivery address cannot be changed. The shipping page does not mention duties or taxes.

If you are buying for an event, count the processing time, transit and any return before the date. Our guide to buying a suit online has a timing checklist for formal events.

Checklist before you order

  1. I measured myself and compared with the size guide.
  2. I know there are no online exchanges: a wrong size means a return and a new order.
  3. I know the 30-day and 14-day windows and that a return label expires after 14 days.
  4. I know the return fees and that missing tags or hangers cost $5 each time.
  5. I checked my inseam before adding hemming, and I know hemmed trousers cannot be returned.
  6. I counted processing and shipping time against my event date.
