Bed and mattress size chart
Pick a size to see it in inches and centimetres, the closest match in the other systems, and whether it fits your room.

- US sizes are in inches (Queen is 60 x 80 in); UK and European sizes are in centimetres (King is 150 x 200 cm).
- European sizes are usually 10 cm longer: a UK mattress will not fit a frame built for a European size.
- Leave about 2 ft 6 in (76 cm) clear beside and at the foot of the bed.
How we calculate
Each size is the mattress size published by the sources under "The sizes we use". US sizes are in inches, UK and European sizes in centimetres; we convert with 1 in = 2.54 cm.
- Closest size. For the size you pick we find the size in each other system with the smallest total difference in width and length, and show the gap.
- Fits your room. Which? advises leaving about 2 ft 6 in (76 cm) between the sides and foot of the bed and the nearest wall or furniture. We assume the head is against a wall, so the room needs the bed width plus 76 cm each side and the bed length plus 76 cm at the foot.
- Differences. Makers differ by a fraction of an inch in the US, and there is no standard mattress depth.
