A scroll saw pattern is a drawing: lines on paper that you stick or trace onto a board and follow with the blade. The drawing costs nothing to make a copy of, which is why the licence matters more than the price.
This guide reads one pack's sales page and OSHA's woodworking pages so you know what to check before you download or pay for patterns. We have not cut any of these patterns or tested any pack, and the seller's page can change.

Quick answer
- A pattern pack is usually a download of PDF files, so you print what you need. Check the file type before you buy.
- The licence decides whether you may share the files or sell what you make. Read it first.
- A download cannot be returned, so the refund promise is the safeguard. Check how long it lasts.
- A scroll saw is a cutting machine. Guarding and dust are covered in the OSHA pages linked below.
1. What one pack lists
This is what the seller of "101 Easy Scroll Saw Patterns" says on its sales page, as we read it on 21 October 2026.
| Item | What the page says |
|---|---|
| Number of patterns | 101 |
| Subjects listed | 14 scenes, 10 fish, 18 birds, 11 wall art, 3 clocks, 12 Christmas ornaments, plus "33 more unique artwork" |
| Format | A zipped file of PDFs; the 12 ornaments come as 3 PDFs of 4 ornaments each, so there are fewer files than patterns |
| Use | Lines to follow with a scroll saw blade; "PDF files only", not for laser or CNC use |
| Wood | Most of the artwork is cut from 1x10 pine or poplar boards, hand-cut |
| Delivery | Digital download; nothing is posted |
| Price | $99.99, which the page puts at about $0.99 a pattern before taxes |
| Bonuses | None listed |
The page shows "Page updated" with no date, and it describes the patterns as "easy". We cannot tell you how easy they are for you. Look at a sample pattern, if one is shown, and compare its line detail with the wood and blade you plan to use.
2. The licence
The same page says the patterns are the seller's intellectual property and "only meant for your personal use", and that you may not re-sell, share or re-distribute the files "in any format, digital or otherwise". It also says you may sell the finished wooden artwork you make from the patterns, and its opening lines mention selling it online or at art and craft shows. Other sellers word this differently, and some forbid selling finished pieces. If you plan to sell your work, read the licence before you pay. Our guide to what to check in woodworking plans explains the usual licence points.
3. The refund on a download
You cannot send a file back, so the refund promise matters. The seller's page says the purchase "comes with a 60 day money back guarantee". The Purchase button takes you to a separate checkout page, which we have not placed an order on, so check the exact wording of the guarantee there and keep the order email.
4. Free patterns
Free pattern pages exist, and the same licence question applies: free to download is not always free to share or sell. Look for a stated licence on the page. If there is none, treat the pattern as personal use only and do not post or sell it.
5. Safety and dust
OSHA's Woodworking eTool, which is written for workplaces, says that improperly or inadequately guarded woodworking machines can lead to laceration, amputation, severed fingers and blindness, and that wood dust and finishing chemicals are health hazards to woodworkers that may cause skin and respiratory diseases. Our guide to workshop dust and setup summarises the dust page. Read your saw's manual for blade, guard and eye-protection instructions.
What we could not confirm
- How easy the 101 patterns are for a beginner, because we have not cut them.
- Whether the page's wording is current: it shows "Page updated" with no date.
- Whether the patterns are free of third-party artwork: the page describes them as hand-drawn by the seller.
What to check before you buy
- The file type: the page says PDFs only, to print.
- Whether you may share or resell the files, and whether you may sell what you cut.
- How long the refund promise lasts and where it is written down.
- Your saw's manual for guarding and eye protection.
